The latest
announcement made from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding
the 11th edition of Indian Premier League, IPL 2018 is that
production rights for the audio-visual feed for the league. Star India has got
the rights to produce audio-visual rights for the IPL 2018 tournament. Star
India will also broadcast the whole tournament.
BCCI opened the bids
for the audiovisual production rights for
the IPL and the 2018-19 domestic cricket seasons, where Star India Pvt. Ltd.
won the same. Therefore, the Star India Pvt. Ltd. is now responsible for not
only the audiovisual production of IPL but
also BCCI’s domestic season for 2018-19.
While the BCCI statement
didn't determine any specific details regarding the news, it was comprehended
that Star India Pvt. Ltd. Furthermore,
the International Management Group were the main two intrigued bidders, with
Star leaving with the rights for having presented the
least offer of roughly Rs. 9.5 crore. This would imply that this will be the
first time when the IPL broadcaster would
likewise produce live content. The bidding amount was Rs.9.5 crore, but the
exact amount of the final deal between BCCI and Star India Pvt. Ltd has not yet
been revealed by BCCI.
The service agreement
and the contract term between BCCI and Star India Pvt. Ltd. will be of one
season of IPL, i.e. IPL 2018 and one season of domestic cricket, i.e. 2018-19
seasons. The BCCI, in any case, claims all authority to expand the term for one
more period of IPL and one more period of domestic cricket. The Board, at its
